Ice hockey + North america = society phenemenom Firstly, in this report, I am not going to deal with the historic or theoretical aspect of the ice hockey, but rather about the society phenomenon which turns around this sport: the differences between European and American hockey, the financial side of the hockey and finally I shall speak about the violence in hockey. Secondly, the Ice hockey is the team game considered as the fastest in world. Let us take the example of Bobby Hull (one of the most famous hockey players), he moves to approximately 45 km/h and propels the puck close to 190 km/h. To end with this inroduction, I am anxious to say that the ice hockey is not a sport of « brute ». If the general public has this impression, it is because of the media which convey this image by showing only sequences of fights or violence. It is true that there are fights and violence, but as much as for the football or the rugby, but these last ones are implanted in our customs. |
